AN APPEAL

HEAVY RAIN & FLOODING EFFECT IN POOREST DALIT’S AND OTHER WEAKEST SECTION’S RESIDENTS:

Dear Friends,

GSS is a grassroots level, non-religious, non-political, non-profit making organization providing sustainable strength, through natural resource management, Capacity building, Mobilization, Disaster mitigation & relief, Ashraya Andolan (movement for residential land to Dalit) etc. to the poorest Dalit and other marginalized and weakest community in remote and neglected area.

Most of effected, Poorest Dalit families’ residents are effecting because of continue heavy rain and flooding at different locations of Tehri Garhwal, Uttarakhand of India. All known that most poorest Dalit and some other weakest section lives under huts/one two room’s old damaged houses in any rural village or their huts situated at any other riverbank. Lack of any developmental opportunity and due to their poorest condition, they face mostly any natural disaster or other crisis rather then other part in the society.

The Effect / Damage:

In total, more than 15 cattles have been lost. Near about 500 Peoples of 155 families are displacing. Including boundary wall, foundation wall, latrines, bathrooms, and Livelihood assets of near about 15, poorest Dalit families have been destroyed with kitchens. 450 families are living under leakage houses (Not Better Then Poor Huts); more then 150 children are falling sick because of lack of unprotected home facilities. Peoples are living in disaster. It is so sad tragedy, all of helpless families cry out for help.

Emergency Need:

In accordance with the 605, affected poorest Dalit families including other weakest section’s condition we decided that following given below relief must be distribute quickly in emergency.
1-Feeding materials, 2- Rain coats, 3- Umbrellas, 4- School dress, 5- Tents, 6- Plastic seats,7-Crockery sets, 8- Medicines & health check up camps, 9- Family torch, 10- Family cloth articles,11- Blankets and bed seats,

Contribution:

We appeal to you to liberally, contribute towards this cause into our account to initiate the process. Emergency Relief of one or more families with primary protection and livelihood support would cost around US $ 360.00 (Rs.15, 000.00) per poorest Dalit and other weakest families including co-ordination cost of 15%. It may go up or come down. Again, depending upon the receipt of funds, we may increase / reduce the target coverage of families or even abandon the idea if the response is not to a minimum level. Accountability:

All remittances to this account will be fully acknowledged and GSS will also regularly give an update of the process / progress made with the contributions. We will also inform to the Home Ministry with regard to the quantum of money received and its utilization through legal process.

Response:

To mitigate the sufferings of the most affected people, Development GSS a Non- Governmental Organization, which has a working experience of more than 20 years, has decided to provide emergency relief in accordance poorest Dalit and other marginalized families.

However, it is very difficult for GSS to take up any massive scale relief program without your support. Hence, we place before you this appeal. We are already in touch among the flooding affected families and will response them in this disaster.
